A campaign led by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to encourage people and communities to plant more trees in England's towns, cities and neighbourhoods. £4.2 is available to support community groups to plan trees. It is for civic groups and other not-for-profit organisations to establish community-led tree planting projects in areas that would benefit most. Trees must be planted in streets or green places that are open to all to visit or where local people will benefit from them.
Supporting projects and research in two main areas:
The Biffaward scheme funds projects that are within a certain distance of an active Biffa operation. As guidance, Voluntary Action Westminster's offices at NW1 5DP are withing a 6 mile radius and the recommended distance is within 10 miles. Projects must also be within 10 miles of a landfill site.
Do you live within 10 miles of a licensed landfill (active or historic)? Do you have a big idea that will involve volunteers, bring generations together and leave a legacy that will make a real difference to a community?
