Part-time Learning Disabilities Befriending and Mentoring Project Coordinator.  Apply by 02 March 2012.

NJC scale 6: pro rata £25,520 a year (including inner London weighting), plus 6% pension
Part-time (17.5 hours a week)

Volunteer Centre Westminster is looking for someone with a strong volunteering, mentoring and befriending background to manage its new Learning Disabilities Befriending Project.

The Project will address issues of independence and exclusion faced by adults with learning disabilities living in The City of Westminster by engaging volunteers into a mentoring and befriending programme targeting those most in need.

Funded over the next three years by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.

Based within Volunteer Centre Westminster, the role will involve all aspects of managing and delivering the project including:

  • Recruiting, training and supervising volunteer mentors and befrienders
  • Working with local care providers o establish a referral network
  • Arranging matches to appropriate beneficiaries
  • Project marketing and publicity
  • Monitoring and reporting
  • Budget management.

The successful candidate will be  will be passionate about the benefits of volunteering, especially as a means of supporting those in need, have experience of recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers and have knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities.
